Well, most of you would have unaware of the fact that the iPhone which you have always kept really close to the heart, has been watching, rather stalking you. According to reports by security researchers, since iOS 4 update, iPhone has been tracking your location down and storing it in a secret hidden file that’s replicated to your computer once it’s synchronized with your device.

iPhone, iPad with iOS 4.x has been tracking every move

The above mentioned secret file contains data about your latitude and longitude along with the timestamp, and this information can easily be accessed by jailbreaking the phone, unfortunately, on the computer even without that. Furthermore, this file isn’t encrypted and can be read by anyone using a simple app.

Also, the same data will be stored by your mobile carriers, but just be sure that those data is kept confidential and encrypted. Moreover, this data is only meant for the law enforcing agencies.

According to one of the researchers who have conducted this experiment and discovered this file;

Apple has made it possible for almost anybody – a jealous spouse, a private detective – with access to your phone or computer to get detailed information about where you’ve been,

But, till now, it’s not cleared that why these data are stored, as it’s not sent back to Apple. Also, it has been assumed that seemingly Apple hasn’t any interests in knowing where their users go or what do they do in their evenings. Probably, it may be used in geographical advertisements.
