As you all are aware of the fact that till now, the iPhone 5 rumor mill hasn’t been stopped spinning till now, and here comes the new rumor all around the web about the upcoming iPhone 6. Actually, according to the report of The Cell Phone Junkie, the next-but-one iPhone will support LTE with a release due in 2012. Well, let’s have more information on this new iPhone 6 rumor from below.

iPhone 6 with LTE support to arrive in 2012 with Qualcomm MDM9615

As it has been agreed universally that the upcoming iPhone 5 will be the first Apple hardware to support both GSM and CDMA, Mickey Papillon of the The Cell Phone Junkie, believes the 6th incarnation of iPhone will be a world phone actually with added LTE support.

Now, if the iPhone 5 won’t have LTE, will the iPhone 6? Almost certainly. For the timeline, we look back to Qualcomm. The chipsets used in the iPhone 4 were announced over a year prior to the device’s actual release. So if we think the iPhone 6 is coming in 2012, then we need to keep our eyes on what Qualcomm is doing now. Back in February, Qualcomm unveiled it’s next generation of chipsets, including the MDM9615. This chip will provide enhancements in modem performance, power consumption, board area and BOM expense, exactly what Apple is looking for in its devices. The 9615 will support LTE (FDD and TDD), DC-HSPA+, EV-DO Rev-B and TD-SCDMA.

Well, the report of Papillon is trust-able, as he’s the guy who has successfully predicted the exact chipset Verizon’s iPhone would be using a year before it was declared. Apart from that, as Android, a great rivalry of Apple, has already used LTE technology in their smartphones, whereas, it’s strongly demanded from users’ point of view to add this technology in their iOS-based devices also.
