iBackMyi Shell Script to Backup Your iOS Device [How to Guide]

Introducing a new shell script, called, iBackMyi, which backs up user defined directories and creates a gzipped tarball. Well, this can be then uploaded to a FTP site or downloaded to another computer such as laptop or desktop. Also, this new iBackMyi shell script can back up many stuffs of your iOS device. Well, the new iBackMyi backs up the following;

  • Cydia sources list
  • AppStore list
  • Description of Cydia packages
  • List of Cydia packages installed on your device
  • iFile¬†Bookmarks
  • List of themes installed on your device
  • SMS database and call history
  • Safari¬†bookmarks and browsing history
  • Tweak preferences

How to Use iBackMyi Shell Script to Backup iOS Device

NOTE : You can get all the necessary download links for the step by step guidelines at the end of the article.

Step – 1 : First, download .deb file (Link given below).

Step – 2 : Then, copy the .deb file to /var/mobile/, and then install it through iFile.

Step – 3 : In order to backup your stuff, load MobileTerminal from Cydia and type;

  • su
  • alpine
  • ibackmyi (all in lowercase)

Step – 4 : After completion of the above process, you can get the backup from /var/mobile/media/iBackMyi

Well, till now, the script is still in beta, hence, if you want to use it, then you have to do it at your own risk. The developers are still working on this to add new features, like, restoring from a backup.
